We built the tool we couldn't find.
We run client work ourselves — managing projects, tracking the team's hours, sharing progress, getting feedback. Every piece lived in a different tool, and the handoffs between them cost us hours every week.
The problem we couldn't ignore
We ran our own client work for years. The delivery was never the hard part. Keeping the projects, the hours, and the client communication in sync across separate tools was where it fell apart.
Every client meant the same scramble. Tasks in one tool. Time tracking in another. Invoicing in a third. Progress and feedback scattered across email threads nobody could find a week later.
Sharing progress meant another login we'd ask clients to set up, and most of them didn't want yet another system. So updates went to their inbox, where they got buried. Feedback came back days late, in a reply three threads deep.
We tried every combination of tools. We built integrations and wrote scripts to sync data between apps. None of it fixed the real problem: the tools were never built to work together. So we stopped looking and built Ascend around the way we already worked.
"We didn't build Ascend to compete with Notion or Harvest or FreshBooks. We built it to replace all three — because no one else was doing that, and we needed it to actually run our practice."
A small team that uses it daily
We're a small team running our own client work on Ascend every day. The same projects, the same hours, the same invoices you'll run. When something is awkward, we feel it before you do, and we fix it. The product is shaped by people who live in it, not by a spec written for someone who never will.
We answer every ticket ourselves.
Email us and you hear back from the people who built Ascend, usually the same day. No offshore helpdesk, no chatbot pretending to be a person. That's how we've always run our own work.
What we actually believe
Honest pricing forever.
Ascend will never move features out of a plan you signed up for to push you to a higher tier. The trial is genuinely a trial — no card, no obligation. Solo and Studio are priced for the value they deliver, not for what the market will bear.
Your data is yours.
We don't mine your workspace to train models. We don't sell your behaviour data. We don't lock you into proprietary formats. You can export everything, at any time, without asking permission.
Small is a feature.
A small team making decisions means no committee, no roadmap bureaucracy, no v3.0 rewrite that breaks everything you built on. If something is broken, we fix it. If you need something, we can actually build it.
