Analytics and audit

Every rule execution is recorded. Two views read that record.

Analytics

Inbox → Rules → Analytics shows how your rules are behaving as a set: which fire often, which never fire, and how many actions they have run.

Read it for two things.

Rules that never fire. Either the condition is wrong or the situation stopped happening. Both are worth knowing — a rule that has matched nothing in a month is not protecting you from anything.

Rules that fire constantly. Usually correct, occasionally a sign that a condition is broader than intended. Cross-check a busy dismiss rule against the audit log before trusting it.

Audit

Inbox → Rules → Audit is the per-item history: which rule matched, which actions ran, whether they succeeded, and when.

This is where you go when something disappeared and you want to know why. It is also how you review a dry run — the log shows what would have happened, so you can judge a rule before it touches anything.

Suggestions

Inbox → Rules → Suggestions proposes rules from patterns in how you already handle mail. If you dismiss the same newsletter every week, that is a suggestion.

Treat them as drafts. A suggestion knows what you did, not why, and the difference matters for anything that dismisses.
